You built the space.
Now comes the harder part.
Getting students to actually show up — and keep coming back — requires more than programming. It requires building a culture. I’ve done it at Berkeley Haas, UC Davis, and LIU Brooklyn. I can help you do it too.
Most new entrepreneurship centers sit half-empty for the first two years.
The investment has been made. The ribbon has been cut. But students who most need what you’ve built — first-generation students, students from underrepresented groups, students who don’t already think of themselves as “entrepreneurs” — don’t walk through the door. The students who do show up are the ones who would have found their way regardless.
The gap between a beautiful space and a thriving community is not a marketing problem. It’s a strategy, culture, and program design problem. That’s what I fix.
Student activation strategy
Designing the programs, language, and on-ramps that attract students who would otherwise self-select out — including first-generation, underrepresented, and non-business students.
Team hiring and development
Recruiting and developing the navigators, program managers, and student workers who become the culture of your center. The right team builds momentum you can’t manufacture with programming alone.
Brand and communication
Building the web presence, physical assets, and messaging that signals to students — especially hesitant ones — that this place was made for them.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion in entrepreneurship
Designing programs and partnerships specifically for underrepresented student entrepreneurs — including grant-funded initiatives. I’ve secured funding and built coalitions to make this work sustainable.
I’ve done this work inside some of the most respected entrepreneurship ecosystems in the country — at the research university level, in schools known for both rigor and innovation.
Let’s talk about what you’re building.
I work with a small number of institutions at a time. If you’ve recently received a gift or grant to build or expand your entrepreneurship center and you want to make sure the investment pays off in actual student engagement — I’d be glad to have a conversation.
